The very first step in getting admitted to a university/college in Australia is to choose a course that you are interested in based on your previous educational qualification.
Always do your own research about the course you would like to do and the university/college where you would like to pursue your course.
You will require a few documents at the time of admission such as your previous qualification mark sheets and certificates, language proficiency test scores.
Every university has its own specific set of required documents. University websites will provide the lists of the documents.
For applying at an Australian University, there are 2 ways;
There are generally two admission intakes in Australia;
It’s totally up to the students to choose the intake period.
To choose an intake, keep in mind a few points like whether the preferred course is available during the intake you wish to join, availability of part-time jobs, course fees, availability of the certificates and documents that are required for the admission, etc.
Always remember that the ‘complete application process’ along with appearing for interviews and visa application procedure should be completed well before intakes. Ideally, you should start your admission process 6 months before the application deadline.
There will be three deadlines for one intake for most of the universities in Australia. You have to take your language test, aptitude tests, and other relevant tests at least 3 months before the deadline. The final three months must be utilized for filling out the application form for the visa so that you do not end up messing at the last minute.
Please Note: University Tuition Fee hike usually happens during the month of February in Australia. Students choosing the July intake will be subjected to this hike twice more than students choosing the February intake. |
Once you have successfully applied your application to universities where you intend to do your course, you will receive a conditional or unconditional offer letter.
An unconditional offer letter is given to a student when the student has met all the requirements of the university.
On the contrary, a conditional offer letter is given to a student when he/she is yet to complete the formalities of the university. This letter is given basically with conditions like to complete all the document submission or formalities in a given time frame.
Once the offer letter is provided to the student, the student has to accept the offer with all the conditions mentioned in the offer. This offer letter is an agreement between the student and the university. This letter will outline the course you will be enrolled in, enrolment conditions, the fees you need to pay, and the refund payable if you back out before you complete the course.
The next stage is paying your first-semester tuition fees.
To do the payment, you can either approach your bank or any RBI licensed money changer.

Upon accepting the offer letter provided by the university, you will receive an electronic Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) by email. COE makes you eligible to come to Australia for pursuing the course you have opted for.
It will be in the form of an online code which will come into use when applying for the visa. You need to insert this in the appropriate space provided in the online application form.
This is a very important and valid document to be included in the document list to apply for an Australian student visa without which a rejection is made right away. It confirms that you have accepted the offer by the university, and have paid your tuition fees and Overseas Student Health Cover premium (OSHC).
By completing this final step, your admission to an Australian University is guaranteed!
Now the only thing left to do is to apply for your Australian Student Visa!
